So it really was in the bag by the end of 1940, wasn't it.

Whenever I'm intoxicated enough to share my takes on WW2, I always conclude by saying: "so you see it just boils down to the fact that Germans suck at organization and planning." The sad thing is, most people don't pick up on my sarcasm.

WWII was from the beginning in 1939 was Stalin's war. The total penetration of the top of Hitler's government was so complete that even Bormann cannot be excluded from consideration. Hitler's options were so impaired that he could not even annex the Polish corridor without Russian help. How pathetic. Stalin must have giggled himself silly.

The 1940 transmission through Molotov is the first that I have ever read. For that insight alone I am grateful for being a subscriber. It suggests a similarity to the declaration of "checkmate" by an opponent. It also suggests from that point on, Hitler and the western allies were on the same side, with the outcome of the war being the same terms as dictated by Molotov, minus the change in German borders. It chillingly suggests that Putin holds Stalin's legacy and intends to complete the terms of this declaration. The more things are different, they can never escape tribal gravity.

I also hark back to the trainboard conference between Hitler and Mannerheim which has been recorded for posterity. Hitler realized his zugschwang and was crying out his death rattle looking for any means to escape his fate. His fate was Romania or death, but he could never keep Romania.

The need for historical revisionism is total.

Your previous post in this series prompted me to buy The Virus House, which I hold in my hands at this very moment. I will write up a report on it on my own Substack if the material proves suitable.
