My dear Friend (and Friend of Ours), REDHAWK joins us to discuss Big Game hunting as spiritual practice and initiatory rite, the archetype of the Great White Hunter, TANZANIAN adventuring, and MORE!
Great episode on a topic near and dear to my heart. I've never personally been to Africa, but several friends have and brought back some amazing stories.
The funniest of which is - one friend went over and stayed in a built up camp with the pro-hunter with cabins and such and one day while they were out in the bush, the monkeys broke into the pantry and raised hell. From eating the fruit/vegetables and making a general mess, what really set the PH off was that they 'pinched the bread'; the monkeys had basically just crushed and wadded up every loaf they had.
So, the PH grabs the camp defense shotguns and they pile into the truck and tear over to the grove where the monkeys lived and proceeded to absolutely massacre them. My friend described the guides as up to this point the happiest, most easy going crew he'd met, but suddenly they were absolutely determined to exact revenge on those monkeys for squishing their bread.
Thomas found out where his boots came from haha. Great episode comrades
Outstanding episode, I think hunting is one of those great things that's nearly impossible to make look lame aesthetically speaking.
