I first heard GG I think around 85/86, back then you (outside the standard DC and Cali hardcore shit) it was kats copying passed around tapes that had been dubbed a 100 times over 🤣, cracking and dusty sounding as fuk, but that was the code of conduct. Every time new peeps entered the click, it was a blessing of new tapes and trashy singles. skins, gangbangers, poor military brats, gutter punks and streets kids sharing whatever shit we picked up around the way…this was sik Kat, love it! 🫡🐺
Were you talking about that VHS with him on top of like a garbage dumpster thing? He had long blonde hair and jumped around like a friggen maniac, but it was definitely before the tattoo "ugly" phase.
Thomas have you seen a film called "Gringo, portrait of junky"? Johnny Thunders is in it as well as Cheetah Chrome. It's a pretty bad movie, but gives a good shot into nyc in the 80's.I think you'd like it.
YES - IIRC, it was ''TROMA FILMS'' effort at making a real/legitimate DOCUMENTARY. And yes - its an EXCELLENT snapshot of pre-GIULIANI NYC, in all its savage grittiness. I am fascinated by NYC lore - and I hope to poach MORE guests for the POD who lived that life and can drop their testimony on us.
Ok cool. I can tell you the last show was on 2nd st and Avenue B. The Gas station. Was an actual gas station at one time. And yes at that time that was a heavy dope area.
Great interview Thomas 👍👍👍
Took me back 30 years ,when l lived punk rock and there was nothing else.
