T-7z...It dawned on me today, that I read you not only for your ideas, which are substantial, but your use of the vernacular; it's like a post millennium, Beat-HR Thompson-Mamet-soup with a pinch of Apocalyptic Roberto Bolanõ thrown in for good measure. You're a writer, first and foremost, and don't forget it..... ya JAGOFF!
Polemical writing - or FIRST PERSON narrative stuff should be FUNNY and EVOCATIVE but should also be conversational. If stuff is remarkable to me - or WEIRD, FUNNY, any of that I think of ways (or TRY to) to describe it that the READER will ''FEEL'' what I do when I was/am experiencing it. I believe THAT is what good ''GONZO'' or narrative writing IS. ACADEMIC writing is a totally, TOTALLY different endeavor. THAT is why I don't know exactly what people are seeking in terms of an ANSWER when they say to me, ''Your REVISIONIST stuff and your SCIENCE FICTION stuff reads TOTALLY DIFFERENT than your POSTS or TWEETS! WHY is that?'' Its a TOTALLY different THING - this INTERNET short form stuff is basically ME ''talking'' to you - just in WRITTEN form. GOD help us if every man WROTE like he spoke. But LEGIT - I really really appreciate the compliment/feedback. Dunno if I'm WORTHY of it, but I'll TAKE it.
There are writers, e.g. Dr Johnson, Chesterton, one cherishes as much for who they were as for their expressed wisdom; you could call it charisma or just the ordinary human interest in a fellow man who's a bit further out in the badlands, taking heat.
